Updraft carburetor

Updraft carburettor fitted to a 1923 Nash car

Updraft carburetor is a type of carburetor, which is a component of engines that mixes air and fuel together, and in this type the air enters at the bottom and exits at the top to go to the engine.[1] An updraft carburetor was the first type of carburetor in common use.[2]

In an updraft carburetor the air flows upward into the venturi according to Edward Abdo in Power Equipment Engine Technology.[3] Other types are downdraft and sidedraft carburetors.[3]

An updraft carburetor may need a drip collector.[4]
