Information:  Although now resident in N.Z., this car is included here because it spent at least 34 years in Australia where it was restored to the condition we see it in now.  It was owned by some well know people and would have been seen by many thousands of people due to being displayed in various museums.

Built at Abingdon in 1932 and dispatched as a rolling chassis to be bodied as a Carlton Coupe for University Motors. Sold to E. Hyde on 26.02.32 and registered KY 1736 possibly in Bradford.

History: None supplied however the following has been gathered from various sources mainly the New Zealand MMM Register extract here.  Thanks go to the N.Z. Register co-ordinator Geoff Broadhead who has done a very thorough job of sorting through a lot of conflicting information.

There are unconfirmed references from the MMM Register UK, to this chassis number with a different registration number MG 2818 being raced in the UK by Bill Tonks in the ’70s. That car had a ‘Q-type’ body and 12″ brakes, whether it really was F0662 remains unclear.

It is believed that F0662 arrived in Australia in 1979, imported by Paul Samuels in NSW.  He had it rebuilt in the style of an F2 by the Nolan Brothers where much of the work was carried out by Albert Johnson.

The completed car was bought by Robert Holmes a Court in the ’80s and added to his Heytesbury Classic Car Collection; following his early passing in 1990 the car was acquired by Paul and Joan Terry and became part of their collection displayed, together with the Darracq from the film Genevieve, in the purpose-built Extravaganza Gallery in Albany.

P.T. died in a helicopter crash in 1993 and the car passed to his daughter Mrs Jill Porter, during her ownership the car was maintained by Ed Farrer and displayed in the Midland Museum.

In 2014 the car was purchased by Bruce Washington; at the time living in W.A., however he moved to New Zealand later in 2014 and took the car with him.  Since then it has been on display in the Geraldine Vintage Museum on the South Island where it still carries its W.A. number plates!
