Information: Built at Abingdon on 24/10/32 as a 2-seater for the home market.
This car is listed here because it was mistakenly listed in early copies of the Australian Register booklets. Rob Dunsterville was able to sort out the confusion.
To be clear the car was never in Australia.
“I shipped J2 2071 from UK for Phil Redhead at Sportsparts in 1974. However, it came with a log book from Barry Walker for J2 2471 of which I still have a photocopy. So it was inaccurately listed on the printed Australian Registers of 1979 and 1982 as J2 J2471 in the name of Bill Wilson. It has to be presumed that nobody checked the chassis itself for its number nor was there an ID plate so the log book data was taken as being accurate.
But by the time the 1986 Register was printed J2 J2471 was no longer listed. However J2 2071 was listed for the first time in 1986 in the name of Errol Sales who still owns it. He has recently confirmed the past owners to be Phil Redhead, John Place and Bill Wilson from whom he bought it.
Paul Gibson in UK has confirmed he has owned J2 J2471 since 1968. I am sending him the photocopy of the log book. Rob Dunsterville”.
