The Auction

It’s the 15th. July, 2025. We had been following a little M.G. PA that is being auctioned and the auction ends tonight!

We have bid casually, putting the occasional bid on here and there over the past few days but now it’s getting serious!

It’s 6.30 p.m. and the excitement of the auction is kicking in. Only 2 hours to go!

It’s 7.30 p.m., only one hour to go! Our bids had reached what we thought was a realistic price, but no, it’s still going!

At this stage, there are only the serious bidders bidding and we are hanging in there.

By now, all common sense has gone out the window, and we are just running on adrenaline. To top it off, every bid entered triggers another 10 minute wait just to prolong the agony. At this stage it still could be anyone’s.

In the background, via messenger and messages, we are “being encouraged” to keep bidding. It really is surprising just how many people know us across the many car makes and car clubs that we belong to. We thought by using my middle name of Ann, that no one would recognize us as the bidders. I guess our location of Modanville gave it away. Apparently there were 298 people watching the auction and apparently, half of them knew it was us. With that sort of encouragement how could we not just keep bidding.

Long story short, we did keep bidding and finally placed a bid that would win us this beautiful little M.G.

Congratulations came from all over Australia!

Thank you to all those that kept us company through the whole bidding process.

16th. July 2025… Now we start sorting out the payment and how we are getting it home.

17th July 2025… Funds sorted and payment confirmed we head to Brisbane to bring her home.

We feel very fortunate to have this little M.G. in our shed. Ours to restore and get her back to her former glory, ours to enjoy. We didn’t know her previous owner but I am sure that he would have be delighted with the results of the auction and to the good stable that it has come to.

On it’s arrival home, it was greeted by our other two M.G.s, our 14/28 (Muscles) and our 14/40 (Violet.)

They make a happy family.

Julie and Terry Prodger.
