Current owner: Jennie and Graeme Jackson, Vic.
MMM No: 774
Information: Built at Abingdon in late 1935 for the home market and registered BPO 53 on 10/12/35.
History: Early history unknown. Rebuilt in the UK in the style of a K3 by Peter Gregory. Imported into Australia by Ross Kelly and used in many Historic Competition events up and down the East Coast until 2017 when he acquired a real K3, K3004. The NB then lived a quieter life sharing the motor house with the K3. After a life-changing move from Qld to country Victoria R.K. sold the NB to the M.G. obsessed Jackson family.
Full of enthusiasm new owner Jacko has provided the following update for the record:-
“Ross Kelly bought the reconfigured NB Special on 1st February 2006 from C. E. Jones & Son Newcastle Straffordshire, the company which Peter Gregory used to flog off his cars. The original engine 1155AN was not in the car as promised when Ross imported it from England, much to his annoyance, but 1063AN fitted instead. Subsequently, in 2007 a large lump of metal broke off from number 6 bore exposing the water gallery, and it was discovered that the block had been bravely bored out to 60mm. On investigation of the metal thickness in all the bores it was wisely decided that sleeves could not be supported in the old engine block. I understand that 1063AN was scrapped. Ross bought a new block which is now 1155AN ( 1155ANother) as it should be.
